Futsalroos to face Indonesia in key international ahead of 2026 AFC Futsal Asian Cup

The Futsalroos will travel to Jakarta to take on Indonesia in an A international fixture at Indonesia Arena on Saturday, 1 November (kick-off 7:30pm local / 11:30pm AEDT).

The match will mark Indonesia’s first-ever international appearance at the newly opened venue in a historic occasion for the hosts and an ideal opportunity for Australia to continue building towards the 2026 AFC Futsal Asian Cup.

Following a successful qualification campaign in Kuwait, where the Futsalroos topped their group with emphatic wins over Mongolia (8–1) and India (10–1), and a hard-fought draw with Kuwait (2–2), this fixture represents another important step in the team’s preparation for next year’s tournament.

With Indonesia also confirmed as hosts of the 2026 AFC Futsal Asian Cup, the clash provides a valuable preview of the environment and opposition Australia can expect to face at the continental showpiece.

Head Coach Miles Downie has named a strong squad for the encounter, blending returning experience with the core group that impressed during qualification. Daniel Fornito and Atay Ibrahim return to national colours for the first time since 2024, while Jyden Harb earns selection for his second camp and César Casado Rubio joins the group for the first time.

Quotes attributable to Futsalroos Head Coach, Miles Downie:

“This fixture is an important step in our preparation for next year’s AFC Futsal Asian Cup. Every international match gives us the opportunity to grow as a team, test ourselves under pressure, and continue building the identity we want to take into the tournament.

“Indonesia have proven they’re one of the strongest and most rapidly improving teams in the region. They play with great intensity, strong tactical discipline, and the atmosphere in Jakarta will make it an excellent challenge for our players.

“We’ve already shown through qualification that this team has quality, but the Asian Cup will demand another level. Matches like this help us identify areas to refine, understand the demands we will face against the top-tier teams in Asia, and ensure we’re ready for the environment we’ll face in 2026.

“We’ve worked hard to build depth across every position, and this squad reflects that. There’s a strong mix of experience and emerging players, and the internal competition for places is exactly what we need heading into a major tournament.”

Further details regarding broadcast or streaming availability will be confirmed in due course.
