Football Australia and Australian Professional Leagues (APL) staff took part in a six-a-side fundraising tournament in Sydney hosted by LGBTQI+ advocacy organisation Pride Football Australia (PFA) on Saturday.

Seventeen of Australia’s emerging coaches have converged on Sydney this week to participate in a joint FIFA-Football Australia Coach Educators’ Development Pathway Program.

Socceroo and Westfield Matildas greats, international stars, media personalities and a Hollywood actor have all joined the cause as the teams for the Oz Football Aid charity match have been confirmed.

Former Socceroos midfielder Craig Foster and award-winning actor Anthony LaPaglia will captain two star-studded sides for the match which is supporting Australia’s bushfire recovery efforts through Oz Football Aid.

Westfield Matildas striker Kyah Simon surprised a young group of Indigenous players when she joined their Zoom call to discuss her career and answer some questions from the young footballers.

In celebration of NAIDOC week, FFA teed up a special Zoom call for a lucky few Indigenous players which had a surprise guest with Simon joining the call midway through, much to the shock of all the players.

Football Australia today joined Greater Shepparton City Council in celebrating the Asian Football Confederation’s (AFC) decision that the regional Victorian city will host Group G of the AFC U17 Asian Cup 2023™ Qualifiers later this year.
