CommBank Joeys Head Coach Carl Veart has selected a 30-player squad for a domestic training camp to be held in Canberra.
Appointed to the Head Coach role in July 2025, this will be Veart's second camp in charge of the CommBank Joeys, following taking the team to the 27th International Youth Football in Niigata, Japan earlier this month.
With the move to an annual FIFA U-17 World Cup™, the camp forms a crucial part of the team’s preparations for the AFC U-17 Asian Cup Saudi Arabia 2026™ Qualifiers this November, where Australia will face Jordan, Bhutan, Philippines and Iraq in Group E. All matches will take place in Prince Mohammed Stadium, Jordan with qualification offering a pathway to the FIFA U-17 World Cup Qatar 2026™.
The squad is solely Australian-based with the majority of the roster made-up from players aligned with Isuzu UTE A-League Academy clubs, along with a selection of talent playing at National Premier Leagues clubs.
Thirteen members of the most recent CommBank Joeys roster have been named in the squad, with the team previously in action when they travelled to China for the Hohhot U16 Tournament. They faced Saudi Arabia, Vietnam and China PR in an invitational tournament and secured victories over Saudi Arabia and Vietnam.
Carl Veart said he is looking forward to working with the players in his second camp as CommBank Joeys Head Coach.
"On the back of the squad’s performance in Japan, at the 27th International Youth Football in Niigata, the team and I have a better idea of the work we need to do, as a squad, at this camp.
“The tournament in Japan was our first step, as a group, to help our players develop against older competitors and ready themselves for international competition and now this window will be used to develop the playing group further and solidify our style of play.
“In Canberra we will look to refine what we do on and off the pitch and harness the talent that we have within this Joeys squad. The aim and goal within camp is to challenge the boys in different ways and provide invaluable experience as we prepare for the AFC U17 Asian Cup qualifiers later this year.
“The more we can build the teams confidence, individually and together, the better chance we have of performing when the qualifiers arrive in November."
Australia kicks-off its AFC U-17 Asian Cup Qualifiers on Monday, 24 November 2025, with the Joeys opening its campaign against hosts nation Jordan. The group winners advance to the finals.
