The Club Changer of the Year Award recognises clubs that are creating lasting, positive impacts within their communities.
In 2025, two clubs stood out for their leadership, innovation and commitment to sustainable football: North Epping Rangers Sports Club (Metropolitan Winner) and Vasse Soccer Club (Regional Winner).
North Epping Rangers Sports Club (Metropolitan)
Building Strong, Sustainable Female Pathways
North Epping Rangers Sports Club has transformed female football at the club by addressing key gaps in participation, retention and development. Through a clear Female Football Strategy, the club created structured pathways that support players, coaches and future leaders.
The launch of the NER Football Development Academy provided professional, girls-only coaching for players aged U9–U18, growing participation numbers with support from the Football Australia Growing Football Fund. A new WPL Development Squad now bridges youth and senior football, achieving 100% retention and strong progression outcomes.
Investment in leadership through a Coaching Development Pathway has seen teenage female coaches mentored and accredited, strengthening the long-term pipeline. On the field, success followed alongside a 13% increase in female participation.
Through community events, media and celebrations, North Epping Rangers has elevated the visibility and pride of female football, creating a sustainable culture that will continue to grow.
Vasse Soccer Club (Regional)
A Holistic, Community-First Football Club
Vasse Soccer Club has been recognised for its holistic approach to club development, with a strong focus on governance, safeguarding, volunteers and inclusion.
Using its 2 Star Club Changer Action Plan, the club strengthened governance through transparent policies covering safeguarding, behaviour, inclusion and child safety, supported by clear succession planning. The “Volunteer in Focus” campaign improved volunteer recruitment and retention, while enhanced sponsorship, fundraising and grants strengthened financial sustainability.
Vasse expanded its community reach through improved marketing, new merchandise and female-specific uniforms, boosting girls’ participation and leadership representation. The club also delivered All Abilities “come and try” sessions in partnership with Football Futures and partnered with Vasse Primary School to grow local engagement.
Recognised as a Gold Good Sports Club and 2-Star Club Changer, Vasse Soccer Club continues to lead the way in inclusive, well-governed and community-driven football.
Both North Epping Rangers Sports Club and Vasse Soccer Club exemplify what it means to be a Club Changer, driving progress through clear strategy, strong leadership and a deep commitment to their communities.
Their stories show that whether metropolitan or regional, sustainable change in football starts with people, purpose and the courage to do things better.
Congratulations to both clubs and their Member Federations.
