The CommBank Pararoos finished their IFCPF Men’s World Cup group stage campaign by picking up a point, coming from behind to secure a 3-3 draw with Chile.
Luc Launder scored a brace, including the late equaliser, while Daniel Campbell came off the bench to score in the second half.
There were three changes to the starting seven that took on Spain. Christian Tsangas started in goals, while Josh De Silva and Luc Launder came back into the starting side.
Australia had the best possible start. Launder was perfectly positioned to capitalise after an errant back pass from Chile. The striker picked up the ball inside the penalty area and tucked it home to give the side an early lead.
The score stayed that way until the very last moments of the first half. A good run from Thomás Valenzuela Aguayo saw him brought down inside the penalty area. He made no mistake from the penalty spot, bringing the score to 1-1 at half-time.
Chile took a two goal lead twelve minutes into the second half. Raul Duran struck first – a header from a corner - before Aguayo made it two soon after, a fine effort from outside the penalty area sliding past Tsangas.
The CommBank Pararoos, however, were never out of the game. Daniel Campbell speared in a long range effort to pull one back in the 54th minute. Then, with only minutes remaining, it was Launder who was in the right place again to tuck home a dangerous ball across the box and help earn Australia a point.
Results elsewhere mean that they did not qualify out of their group. They will next play on Wednesday morning (AEDT) to determine final placings.
