Annmarie De Uriarte scored eight in the comprehensive victory, while Georgia Beikoff scored four, and both Carly Salmon and Eloise Northam added hat tricks.
Head Coach Charlotte Ercil named an experienced starting five to begin the tournament. Katelyn Smith started in goal, while Tahlia Blanshard, Georgia Beikoff, Eloise Northam and Annmarie De Uriarte completed the side.
De Uriarte got scoring underway in the third minute. She picked the ball up from inside her own half and tucked it away to open the scoring.
The second came shortly after, again through De Uriarte. Blanshard did well to win the ball high, and De Uriarte did the rest, finishing from outside the penalty area.
Beikoff made it three in the 10th minute. She has become known for her powerful finishing, and this goal was a perfect example of that, a strong shot from outside the penalty area rocketing into the back of the net.
De Uriarte completed her hat-trick in the 17th minute. She exchanged a series of passes with Beikoff to work around the Irish defence. Beikoff’s shot was deflected by the goalkeeper into the path of the youngster, who made no mistake from close range.
De Uriarte made it five in the 23rd minute, and then Beikoff made it six – and scored her brace – a minute later.
Beikoff completed her hat-trick in the 27th minute, and then scored her fourth one minute later, both goals once again the result of interplay between herself and De Uriarte.
That meant that it was 8-0 at half-time and Australia showed no signs of slowing down after the break. De Uriarte scored her fifth only moments after the restart, and her sixth moments after that.
Substitute Eloise Northam got in on the action soon after, adding the CommBank ParaMatilda’s 11th.
The 30th minute brought the team’s 12th – De Uriarte adding her seventh – and she made it eight for her, and thirteen for Australia, in the 33rd minute.
Northam scored her second from long range, a first-time finish outside the penalty area looping over the goalkeeper and finding its way into the back of the net. She completed her hat-trick in the 41st minute, another long-range effort with her wand of a left foot making it 15 for the CommBank ParaMatildas.
Carly Salmon added her name to the scoresheet, winning the ball high and tucking it away with her second touch of the play. She scored her second after a pinpoint pass from Northam played her in close to the goal, and completed her hat-trick soon after.
The team is next in action against Colombia on Sunday morning (AEDT).
