Football Australia is saddened to hear of the passing of highly-respected administrator and Hall of Fame member Peter Gray following a long battle with illness.

Born in Australia in 1942, Gray spent 41 years in Australian football as a player and administrator.

During the 1960s he played nine years as a goalkeeper for a number of NSW Soccer Federation (Football NSW) clubs.

Elected Soccer Australia Commissioner in 1995, Gray took part in more than 100 official appearances involving the national teams.

Football Australia has been informed by the Papua New Guinea Football Association (PNGFA) that their senior national women’s team is unable to field a team for the final fixture of the Pacific Four Nations Tournament. 

PNGFA advised Football Australia they have diagnosed six players as unfit to play for medical reasons, meaning Papua New Guinea is unable to field a squad for tomorrow’s match against the CommBank Young Matildas on Sunday 13 November.

Football Federation Australia (FFA) is today mourning the loss of former Melbourne Knights, Carlton, Wollongong Wolves, and North Geelong player David Cervinski.

The four-time National Soccer League title winner lost his battle with cancer overnight.

FFA Chief Executive Officer David Gallop AM said Cervinski would long be remembered for his distinctive style on and off the pitch.

Football Federation Australia (FFA) today welcomed the decision by the federal government to change the status of the occupation ‘Footballer’ on the Skilled Migration Occupation List, as one that will greatly benefit the sport.
