Canberra to get new 'Home of Football' to host Caltex Socceroos and Westfield Matildas matches

The Caltex Socceroos and Westfield Matildas will play matches in Canberra over the next 18 months after the announcement of a $20 million investment by the ACT Government in Tuesday’s 2019-20 budget.

It will see Canberra get a new ‘Home of Football’, with the facility, to be built at Throsby and be the new headquarters for football in the ACT.

It will feature multiple outdoor fields, indoor futsal courts, office space for Capital Football, and associated amenities.

With the ACT Government investing $20 million to the project, Capital Football will contribute $4.5 million to build the $24.5…

Football Federation Australia (FFA) has announced that Australia’s largest independent sports radio producer and program syndicator, Crocmedia, has secured exclusive commercial radio rights in a landmark five-year deal.

The agreement will deliver mass distribution of the game across metropolitan and regional radio and online audiences in Australia and New Zealand commencing from the Hyundai A-League 2017/18 season.

Born in South Australia, Karen was known as a versatile fullback, who played with Elizabeth Downs, Campbelltown City, Renegades and Modbury Vista. 

Before making her national team debut in 1989, she was part of most South Australian squads at the senior national championships from 1985 to 1995, starting as a 15-year-old in the 1985 tournament in Melbourne.

Football Australia is saddened to hear the news of the passing of Hall of Fame Member and respected referee Anton “Tony” Boskovic.

Born in Blato, Croatia, Boskovic emigrated to Australia in 1955 where he resided in NSW.

Boskovic quickly rose through the referee ranks in NSW to become acknowledged as the best in Australia.

He was in the centre for 13 consecutive NSW State League grand finals and became a regular for the National Soccer League from its inception in 1977 until he retired in 1983.

Following extensive review, Football Federation Australia today announced the existing National Club Identity Policy will be replaced.

Football Australia has confirmed the match schedule for the Australia Cup 2023 Round of 16, featuring several intriguing clashes across four Match Days, as Isuzu UTE A-League Men and National Premier League (NPL) sides battle it out for a place in the competition’s Quarter Finals.

Football Federation Australia (FFA) would like to congratulate Ange Postecoglou and his coaching team –  Peter Cklamovski, Arthur Papas and Gregory John King – on winning Japan’s J-League.

Postecoglou, who coached Brisbane Roar to two Hyundai A-League Championships, in 2010/11 and 2011/12 and a Premiership in 2010/11, was Australia men’s national team coach between 2013 and 2017 and guided the Caltex Socceroos to AFC Asian Cup glory in 2015.

Futsalroos to challenge Vietnam, Myanmar, and Timor-Leste in Bangkok

The Futsalroos will return to action in April, with Football Australia confirming that it will send a national team squad to Bangkok, Thailand to compete at the 17th AFF Futsal Championship.


Australia have been drawn in Group B of the competition, which will be played at the Huamark Indoor Stadium in Thailand’s capital between April 3 and 12.

In Group B the green and gold will meet Vietnam, Myanmar, and Timor-Leste, with the top three nations at the competition earning the right to represent ASEAN at the AFC Futsal Championship in Kuwait later in the year.
