Socceroos’ Head Coach Graham Arnold has named his 26-man squad to represent Australia at the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™.

Goalkeeper Mathew Ryan will captain the side in Qatar at what will be his third FIFA World Cup, with Mathew Leckie the other player in the squad selected to represent Australia at a FIFA World Cup for the third time.

This year’s tournament will be the second FIFA World Cup for Aziz Behich, Milos Degenek, Jackson Irvine, Jamie MacLaren, Aaron Mooy and Bailey Wright, with seventeen players selected in a FIFA World Cup squad for the first time.

MLS to host IFAB workshop on VAR experiments

The second workshop on experiments with video assistant referees (VARs) in football will be hosted by Major League Soccer (MLS) from 19 to 21 July in New Jersey, USA.

It follows on from the kick-off workshop in the Netherlands in May, when interested competition organisers found out more about the requirements they need to meet in order to take part in the two-year trial overseen by The IFAB.

The three-day workshop will be attended by more than 20 leagues and associations from across the globe, including Australia.

In preparation for their AFC U-23 Asian Cup 2024 Qualifiers in September, the Subway Olyroos will participate in the prestigious Maurice Revello Tournament in Aix-en-Provence, France from 5 June – 18 June 2023.

Joining Australia’s U-23 men’s national team will be eleven other U-23 national teams from across the globe including Bolivia, Costa Rica, France, Ivory Coast, Japan, Mexico, Panama, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Togo, and Venezuela.

Football Federation Australia (FFA) today reaffirmed its commitment to work with the Australian Olympic Committee (AOC) to send teams to Tokyo next year following confirmation that the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and host nation Japan will endeavour to reschedule the Games of the XXXII Olympiad.

Canberra to get new 'Home of Football' to host Caltex Socceroos and Westfield Matildas matches

The Caltex Socceroos and Westfield Matildas will play matches in Canberra over the next 18 months after the announcement of a $20 million investment by the ACT Government in Tuesday’s 2019-20 budget.

It will see Canberra get a new ‘Home of Football’, with the facility, to be built at Throsby and be the new headquarters for football in the ACT.

Born in South Australia, Karen was known as a versatile fullback, who played with Elizabeth Downs, Campbelltown City, Renegades and Modbury Vista.

Football Australia is saddened to hear the news of the passing of Hall of Fame Member and respected referee Anton “Tony” Boskovic.

Born in Blato, Croatia, Boskovic emigrated to Australia in 1955 where he resided in NSW.

Boskovic quickly rose through the referee ranks in NSW to become acknowledged as the best in Australia.

He was in the centre for 13 consecutive NSW State League grand finals and became a regular for the National Soccer League from its inception in 1977 until he retired in 1983.
