Football Australia has confirmed the slot allocations for the Final Rounds of the Australia Cup 2022. 

Member Federations around the nation have been advised of the allocations for this year’s Round of 32, with one Member Federation (Football Victoria) awarded one additional slot when compared to the FFA Cup 2021.

The National Premier Leagues (NPL) Finals Series was unfortunately not held in 2021 due to COVID-19, meaning that there was one additional slot was available to be assigned to a Member Federation for the Australia Cup 2022.

Australia to meet New Zealand in Ichihara

Australia’s men’s football team will take on New Zealand in an international friendly prior to the commencement of the Tokyo 2020 Men’s Football Tournament this month.

The international friendly, which will be played in front of a capped crowd of 1,500 spectators at the ZA Oripri Stadium in Ichihara City, will be held on Monday, 12 July 2021 with kick-off at 6pm local time (7pm AEST).

The game between Australia and New Zealand will not be broadcast or live streamed, however regular social media updates will be made available via socceroos.com.au and the official Socceroos Twitter handle.

A new cycle of U17 female players is set to commence their national team journey as head coach Rae Dower has called up a 30-player provisional squad for the CommBank Junior Matildas' upcoming October training camp. 

Held on the Gold Coast from 25 October to 5 November 2022, it will mark the first assembly for the U17 Women’s National Team since their success at the AFF U18 Women’s Championships.

Melbourne Victory are FFA Cup Winners for a second time after defeating Central Coast Mariners 2-1 at AAMI Park on Saturday night.

Jason Davidson and Chris Ikonomidis were on target with a pair of sublime goals for the Victory as Tony Popovic’s side were crowned Champions in front of a 15,343 strong crowd.

Davidson broke the deadlock in the 70th minute in stunning fashion - smashing home a left footed free-kick from the top of the box to put Victory ahead.

Benny Roche breaks new ground in Pararoos Undefeated Challenge

Pararoos powerhouse Benny Roche has covered an incredible distance in his efforts to raise over $6,000 for the second annual Undefeated Challenge.

The Pararoos legend, who has represented Australia 54 times over 17 years, ran 117 kilometres in the space of four days.

He did it by covering 6.5 kms every four hours, four days in a row.

Roche’s unbelievable effort has seen him lead the fundraising charge in this year’s Undefeated Challenge so far, which is taking place between October 4 and 10, in celebration of World Cerebral Palsy Day.

New members boost FFA Women's Committee
Football Federation Australia (FFA) has sanctioned a registered player for betting on football matches in breach of the FFA National Code of Conduct.

The player was registered in Western Australia when the breaches occurred and the breaches involved betting on various football matches in Australia, including Hyundai A-League and PS4 National Premier Leagues matches.

FFA has determined to impose a sanction of a $1,000 suspended fine, which will be triggered immediately in the event of another breach of the Code of Conduct.
