Australia’s Futsalroos will make a long-awaited return to action on home soil, hosting the Solomon Islands national team in a three-match international series in Sydney from 1-5 July 2023. 

Appearing in their first home fixtures since 2018, Australia will face a Solomon Islands outfit – which has successfully qualified for the past four FIFA Futsal World Cups – across three matchdays.

Football Australia has today issued a further eight bans to spectators as part of the organisation’s ongoing investigation into the unacceptable events that unfolded during the A-League Men’s match between Melbourne City FC and Melbourne Victory FC at AAMI Park on Saturday, 17 December.

In preparation for their AFC U-23 Asian Cup 2024 Qualifiers in September, the Subway Olyroos will participate in the prestigious Maurice Revello Tournament in Aix-en-Provence, France from 5 June – 18 June 2023.

MLS to host IFAB workshop on VAR experiments

The second workshop on experiments with video assistant referees (VARs) in football will be hosted by Major League Soccer (MLS) from 19 to 21 July in New Jersey, USA.

It follows on from the kick-off workshop in the Netherlands in May, when interested competition organisers found out more about the requirements they need to meet in order to take part in the two-year trial overseen by The IFAB.

The three-day workshop will be attended by more than 20 leagues and associations from across the globe, including Australia.

National Technical Director Rob Sherman to depart FFA

Football Federation Australia (FFA) today advised stakeholders that Rob Sherman will depart the role of National Technical Director (NTD) in June 2020.

FFA Chief Executive Officer James Johnson said: “We acknowledge the important contribution that Rob has made to FFA and football in Australia over the past year.”

FFA will commence the search for a replacement NTD in due course.
