Football Australia is deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Hall of Famer, Cliff Sander.
Sander was born in Ipswich in 1932 and played 21 times for Australia and also starred on the local scene in Queensland.
Sander experienced state premiership success very early in his career aged 17, when he was part of the St Helens side that won the Queensland title in 1948. He won another state premiership there in 1956.

The Head Coach of the Newcastle Jets, Ernie Merrick, has been fined $3,000 after being found to have breached the FFA National Code of Conduct.
Merrick was asked by FFA to explain statements he made in the post-match media conference after the Hyundai A-League Round 16 match between Newcastle Jets and Perth Glory on 27 January 2019.
In determining the appropriate sanction, FFA took into account a range of factors, including that this was not Merrick’s first breach of the Code.
