Football Australia CEO James Johnson on a massive 2022 for the Socceroos

1 min read

Football Australia CEO James Johnson recently addressed the football family on what is set to be a momentous 2022 for our men's national team, the Socceroos.

Playing their first ever international match on 17 June 1922, this year marks the 100-year anniversary of the team and there will be many a celebration of this historic date.

Johnson confirms that the Socceroos will face New Zealand in 2022 as a celebration of the first match in Dunedin, and talks through the identity of the Socceroos and how the long history of the team shapes management's decisions.

As well as the continuation of the FIFA World Cup 2022 Qualifiers for Qatar at the end of the year, there is no shortage of massive events coming up.
