About Volunteer Grants
Grants of between $1,000 and $5,000 is available through annual grant rounds to help eligible not-for-profit organisations support and increase participation in volunteering.
What can the funding be used for?
Funding can be used to:
- Purchase communication and insurance items and/or services for all volunteers
- Purchase specified items and/or services for the main purpose of supporting volunteers under the age of 18 or adult volunteers supporting children
- Purchase specified items and/or services to support volunteer-run activities for the main purpose of supporting children or parents/carers to support a child’s development.
How to Apply
You can contact your local Member of Parliament to express your organisation’s interest in applying for a Volunteer Grant.
Organisations wishing to apply for a grant need to:
- Read the Grant Opportunity Guidelines
- Contact their local Federal MP to learn how to submit an Expression of Interest
The 2025–26 Volunteer Grants will open for expressions of interest through Federal Members of Parliament (MP). Organisations are advised to read the Grant Opportunity Guidelines and contact their local Federal MP for details on how to submit an expression of interest.
Organisations nominated by their MP will be invited by the Department of Social Services to fill out an application form in May 2026.
