A-League Licensing Determination

Football Australia can confirm that the First Instance Body (FIB) convened (as scheduled) on Thursday, 14 May 2026 to determine all Club Licensing outcomes for the 2026-27 A-Leagues season under Football Australia’s National Club Licensing Regulations (Regulations).

The FIB confirmed all current A-League teams, with the exception of Western United FC, have satisfied the mandatory criteria set out in the Regulations for A-Leagues club licensing purposes. The FIB’s decisions are based on documentation provided by the Clubs.

Western United FC has until 5.00pm on Friday, 22 May 2026 to appeal the FIB’s decision. Should Western United choose to appeal, they will be heard by the Appeals & Entry Control Body (A&ECB).

Club licensing Regulations are mandated by the AFC to ensure consistency, transparency and due process in all licencing decisions.

Football Australia will not be making any further comment until the process has been completed.
